Why do we have a Rider Education Program?

We exist as a not for profit association. We are able to do that because we provide our members with rider education thru seminars, CPR and first aid classes, newsletter articles, monthly safety discussions, and formal motorcycle rider training. Without this program and its associated educational opportunities, the continued health and non profit status of our association would be in jeopardy.

Now I understand that some members feel that because of their vast experience they don’t need the Rider Ed Program and in their opinion it is “a waste of time and money.” Well, if you like GWRRA and you want to keep it around, then you need the REP. Your choice to participate (or not) is another issue. Personally, I am of the opinion that no matter what your experience, you can always learn something or at least sharpen your skills.

We are very fortunate to have strong support for the REP in our chapter. Is there room for improvement? You bet there is! As your Chapter Educator, I will continue to encourage members to sharpen their skills, keep their safety courses current and advance within the Rider Education Program.

My goal is to keep our members thinking about safety as an integral element of their passion for riding. Perhaps a life can be saved or injury avoided. That’s what I do. That’s why I’m here. And I’m glad to do it!

The bottom line _________ is: GWRRA could not exist without it.
